Celebrating 50 Years of Lacrosse

2021 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Saanich Lacrosse Association. Incorporated in 1971 as a BC Society, the association has been the sole provider of not-for-profit box lacrosse to youth in Saanich.

Covid presented great challenges to delivering lacrosse, however as we hopefully begin to emerge from the pandemic, it has also allowed reflection on the importance of youth sports in our community.

The 2021 season ended in July with a short but action packed series of games for most divisions against the other Greater Victoria Associations. We hope you have had a good summer break since then and are ready to get back to school and organized sports this fall.

Take a moment to look back at the Saanich Lacrosse Association over the last 50 years.(

Thank you to Lauren Groves (sister of Lane Groves – Bantam), Ramona Johnston (mom of Nathan Papps – Pee Wee) and Tera Ziegler (mom of Eliott Ziegler – Pee Wee) for creating the 50th Anniversary video. And thanks to everyone who contributed photos and memories. Not all the photos could fit in the video, but we are working to share them all through Google Drive and will let you know when that is available.

The Saanich Lacrosse Executive is looking forward to the 2022 season. Mark your calendars for the AGM on *Sunday, October 24, 2021.

Please consider joining the executive at the AGM. We always have some vacancies and would like to involve families of younger players on the executive as our older players move on (and their parents with them!).
