News and Announcements
The Victoria Racquet Club Minor Hockey Association is inviting new young players to join their association.
This past weekend our Saanich Lacrosse season wrapped up with the Midget Provincials.
The Midget B team lost their final round robin game and missed the playoffs in a 3 way tie-breaker. They did, however, win the Subway Team Sportsmanship Award which goes to “the team that best exemplifies sportsmanship, respect, honour and the integrity of the game of lacrosse as a team from the coaches to their team participants.” Well done!
The Midget A2 team had an exciting tournament. After losing their first game, they scored the game tying goal with six seconds left in the third period and then won in OT to keep their playoff hopes alive. After winning their last round robin game, they beat JDF in the semi-final to play for gold against Ridge Meadows. The first period was extremely close with Saanich holding a 2-1 lead. In the second and third period Saanich took control and went on to win gold (9-3) with a total team effort. Congratulations!!!
What a great way to end our Saanich Lacrosse season.

The Bantam A2 team finished their season as number two in the province. Their spectacular post season winning streak
was cut short in the gold medal game against Peninsula. The Tigers put in a solid offensive effort, with a couple early shots in the game ringing off the post…but such is sports and you don’t always get the bounces.
This was an outstanding finish for this team.
Congratulations Bantam boys.
The Tigers continue to look good in the post season.
The Midget A2 team, who had already secured a spot at Provincials won the Island Championship. Great work Team!
The Midget B team who had not beat VELA all season swept the series in two games and have secured a berth at the Provincials. The team put in an outstanding effort in the upset.
The midget provincials are being held the weekend of July 25 – 28 in Langley.

The Female Midgets competed this weekend in Nanaimo. With a solid effort in the round robin, they had a record of 2 wins and 3 losses, which unfortunately was not quite enough to move to the next round of play.
The Bantam A2 team traveled to the lower mainland for a wild card game. The game lived up to it’s name. Down 5 to 3 after two periods the Tigers surged in the third period with 6 unanswered goals to win 9 to 5 and win a spot in the Provincials. The Bantam Provincials are being held this weekend in Peninsula. The Bantam A2 team would love to have Saanich Lacrosse players at the games showing their support. The Pee Wee A2 team went 5 wins and 0 losses in the round robin play. The games were tight, with the Tigers down 4 to 1 after two periods against Prince George (the team the Tigers beat in last years Provincials) but they came back to win 11 to 6. The Tigers played Kamloops in the gold medal game to win the Provincial gold medal two years in a row. The game was close with the Tigers pulling off the 4-3 victory. The team captain, Quinn Cramb was named to the Tournament All-Star team and was also named the MVP of the A2 Division. Congratulations to the Pee Wee A2’s and Quinn for winning this award.
