WINTER WORK-OUTS - must RSVP to attend

Posted by Saanich Lacrosse at Dec 18, 2012 10:46AM PST

Hello Saanich Lacrosse families,

In an effort to have our players get lacrosse sticks in their hands earlier than usual, time has been booked at Eagle Ridge on Sunday, December 30 for some winter workouts. The sessions will be organized with coaches and they will be geared towards having some fun with an emphasis on skills. Full gear will be required.

These are not considered part of the formal lacrosse season and are not the ice-breakers or evaluations which will happen in the New Year. These sessions are open to all players within the age groups below that were registered with Saanich Lacrosse in 2012 regardless of what level they played last year or what experience they have. The intention is to simply provide something extra to stir interest and get kids playing lacrosse prior to the season getting underway.

Saanich Lacrosse is not charging a fee for these sessions, however to ensure a manageable number of players are participating and to confirm player status for insurance purposes, you MUST RSVP to the contacts below if you plan to attend.

The following sessions have been booked at Eagle Ridge on Sunday, December 30:

· 6:00pm – 7:00pm – Novice players –born in 2003 and 2004 – please RSVP to vp3@saanichlacrosse.com

· 7:00pm – 8:30pm – PeeWee players – born in 2001 and 2002 – please RSVP to vp3@saanichlacrosse.com

· 8:30pm – 10:00pm – Bantam & Midget players – born in 1997 – 2000 – please RSVP to saanichvp2@gmail.com

If you have any questions you can email the contact for your age group. If you would like to play goalie and require gear, please email as well and arrangements will be made.

We hope you are able to make the workouts and depending on how they are received, additional sessions may be looked at for January.

We hope you all have a happy and enjoyable holiday season!

Thanks,
Saanich Lacrosse Executive

Hello Saanich Lacrosse players, parents and coaches.

It is hard to believe but the box lacrosse season is not far away. One of the biggest challenges every season for Saanich Lacrosse is finding enough volunteers to fill our coaching vacancies. The past few seasons have been a tremendous challenge for the association to ensure we could find enough coaches to ensure all our players had a place to play.

In an effort to try and reduce the impact of looking for coaches right before the season starts, we are sending this email out to solicit interest in coaching this season for Saanich Lacrosse. We are looking for anyone interested in head coaching or assisting. Putting your name forward does not imply a 100% commitment at this point but provides us with an opportunity to start to compile a list of people interested in coaching or assisting, and begin to gauge whether the numbers are in line with our registration or not. It is also important to note that indicating an interest at this stage will have absolutely no impact on where a player is placed or what level they play, as that is determined through the evaluation process. Many of you may also know family or friends that may be keen to give something back to lacrosse and be willing to help coach. By all means, please feel free to forward this email to anyone you think might be interested.

This season we will be implementing an application form to help gather the relevant information for all our coaching volunteers. If you are interested in head or assistant coaching in the 2013 season, please complete the Coaching Application which can be found on the Saanich Lacrosse website under the Coaches Corner section of the site.

Once completed, please email the completed form to president@saanichlacrosse.com prior to January 15, 2013. All coaching applications will be reviewed by the Saanich Lacrosse Executive and from that review, coaching assignments will be determined.

Saanich Lacrosse is also currently looking to fill the executive position of Head Coach. If you, or someone you know may be interested in this position, please have them contact president@saanichlacrosse.com.

We hope you are looking forward to a great 2013 lacrosse season and see you soon!

Thanks,
Saanich Lacrosse Executive
