The box season is just around the corner so dig out your gear and see if it all still fits! If not and you are looking to buy some good used lacrosse gear, or if you are looking to sell some gear, then this is the event for you.

Saanich Lacrosse is pleased to be joining the three other Victoria area associations in taking part in the 2nd Annual Victoria Lacrosse Equipment Exchange.

Items will be priced by the seller and all sales will be cash only (ATMs in building). If you have items to sell or if you just want to donate them to the association please contact Will Dodds at president@saanichlacrosse.com to make arrangements.

Also for sale will be retired association jerseys and new association clothing (shorts, t-shirts etc.) as well as experienced lacrosse folks around to provide any advice or information to prepare you for the upcoming season.

Our Registrar will also be on hand if you want to register in person or need to drop off any documents or paperwork.

Notice on Registration, Waitlists and Evaluations.

Registration for the 2016 Box Lacrosse season has been open for just over a month. In this time we have had a good response, particularly in the Bantam and Midget divisions. As we indicated in previous notices we will begin a waitlist process once the number of registrations in a division reaches a predetermined number. We know there has been some confusion about this process so we would like to try to explain how it works.

We base our waitlists on past years’ registration numbers. Our goal is to ensure that we have an appropriate number of players for each team. This could be defined as 18 runners and either 1 or 2 goalies. If, for example, we are expecting 3 teams in a division we will waitlist players once we have reached 2 full teams. If a player is waitlisted he/she will be informed. As soon as we have enough players to create three teams we will contact the players on the waitlist. Please note: if a division is waitlisted the Saanich Lacrosse Executive will do its’ best to encourage registration in that division to allow us to remove the waitlist. You can help us by talking with friends who have not yet registered and encourage them to do so.

We hope this waitlist process makes sense. If you haven’t already registered remember that the early registration discount is open until January 15th. You can contact our registrar Rich Burman at registrar@saanichlacrosse.com if you have any questions concerning registration.

Moving forward in the New Year we will be releasing the dates for our Ice-Breaker Schedule. The executive is also working on coaching assignments and player evaluations. All evaluations will begin in February with the goal of having finalized teams by Spring Break. Remember that in addition to mail out notifications you can see schedules on Team Pages at www.saanichlacrosse.com.

At this time we would like to extend an invitation to you to attend our 2016 Prospect Camp that will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd 2015 at Eagle Ridge, 6-8 pm.

The two hour session will consist of a practice run by this year’s Intermediate coaches followed by a scrimmage game.

Attached is a BCLA Senior Practice form which must be filled out and signed by both player and parent prior to attending the camp. Also attached is a Player Profile Form. Please complete the Profile and email it back to me and bring the BCLA Practice form with you to the arena prior to the 6pm session. Cost: $20 (includes a camp t-shirt).
