News and Announcements
Saanich News highlights the SLA’s 50th anniversary – have you dug out your old lacrosse photos yet?
The Saanich Tigers Lacrosse Association is celebrating 50 exciting years of dedicated players, coaches, volunteers and fans.
We are putting together a special collage to celebrate.
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any photos (digital or prints we can scan) or favourite memories of your time as a Tiger that you would like to share. Thank you!
As the pandemic continues into 2021, the Saanich Lacrosse Association is grateful that players continue to have the opportunity to play lacrosse. Over the last month, players and parents should thank themselves for the outstanding work following COVID safety protocols.
In early March, the prospect of Phase 3, which would allow game play, was expected to be introduced after Spring Break. The rapid rise in BC COVID cases has reduced the prospects of game play in the immediate future, however, the association continues to plan for some form of game play.
2021 PROPOSED GREATER VICTORIA LACROSSE – GAME PLAY MODEL
The Greater Victoria Lacrosse Associations thank everyone who provided feedback on the proposed Game Play Model. The four associations were well represented in the feedback. The feedback was generally split between strong support and strong dissent. The lack of clear direction left the four associations unable to pursue this model.
2021 REGISTRATION FEES
The Executive recognizes that full registration fees were collected for the 2021 season. This was done in anticipation of a full season, following on the heels of the successful Phase 3 Field Lacrosse season. The Executive has set aside funds to provide a pro-rated refund at the end of the season, should lacrosse remain in the phases which do not require the usual season costs, such as arena floor time, referees, etc.
50th ANNIVERSARY HOODIES
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Saanich Lacrosse Association, each player will receive a hoodie. The Executive is excited to present the anniversary logo and a traditional crest connecting the 50 years of the association.
The Canadian Lacrosse Association has rebranded as Lacrosse Canada. If you are interested in seeing the updated organization name, logo and website go to the following link:
The Saanich Lacrosse Association continues the 2021 season guided by the principles of: keeping players healthy and active, building players’ love for having a lax stick in their hand and finding the silver lining in the current situation.
Saanich Lacrosse Executive
Hello Saanich Lacrosse Families,
The lacrosse sessions have transitioned to the Braefoot and Lambrick outdoor boxes. The full April schedule has been loaded into TeamPages. There is a master schedule for the association, which can be found on the front page of the association website. Each cohort has a schedule and once the parent / guardian is set up in TeamPages you can see the cohort schedule, as well as set reminder notifications via email or text message.
If you are having trouble with TeamPages, there is a Manager associated with each cohort, or you can send a message to our Head Manager Kalyn Sarkany (https://teampages.com/forms/22438-Head-Manager-Contact-Page).
The COVID restrictions placed on this season continue to be challenging. The District of Saanich has issued a permit for use of the lacrosse boxes. This permit has strict requirements on the COVID protocols. Currently this permit allows for all players to enjoy the sport. Overwhelmingly there has been great compliance with the COVID protocols and this should allow continued use of the lacrosse boxes. There have been a few instances where parents or players have not followed the COVID protocols and argued with the volunteers responsible for ensuring COVID compliance. The executive will be contacting these parents directly and should they not be able to follow the COVID protocols they and the player will be removed from the cohort. Given the situation the association is in with COVID and the District of Saanich permit, we can not risk the loss of sport for the vast majority of those who follow the COVID protocols due to those who question why certain COVID protocols are in place.
COVID Info is located on the Key Info and Dates Page on the website.
The 2021 season is being guided by the principles of: keeping players healthy active, building players’ love for having a lax stick in their hand and finding the silver lining in the current situation.

The Greater Victoria Lacrosse Associations are proposing a model for game play that is specific to the 2021 season and the impact of Covid. The request for feedback is your opportunity as parents, players, coaches and volunteers associated with lacrosse in the Greater Victoria area to inform the next steps in lacrosse.
